Search and Rescue

Synopsis

SEARCH AND RESCUE is based on the exploits of the real-life heroes of the U.S. Coast Guard as they rescue and save lives in one of the most dangerous coastal environments in the country: Cape Disappointment, on the border between Washington and Oregon, the so-called “Graveyard of the Pacific.”

Each episode, as the search for a missing person unfolds, we watch the crew of a HH-65 Dolphin helicopter fight the elements from above, while the crew of the highly maneuverable 25 foot fast boats charges in from below. And although they’re fighting for the same side, the two teams also compete with each other, providing internal rivalry that’s not always playful. But in the lifesaving business, any distraction can become dangerous and ego’s need to be checked at the pier.

Our young ensemble cast fights the elements every day and although they may look like heroes, they get scared, they get tired, they have dysfunctional families just like the rest of us. But unlike you and me, they also have great responsibility in the moments when they have to choose who lives and who dies.

The show will balance single-episode procedural searches with other, ongoing storylines that will span multiple episodes. As the clock ticks away on every missing man, woman, or child, the crew also faces their own personal issues and insecurities, not to mention their own power struggles and mixing of personal and professional relationships between them.
