Oscar Alvarez

Oscar Alvarez is an award-winning filmmaker, digital media producer, and alumnus of the MFA Film Production & Directing program at UCLA’s School, of Theater, Film, and Television. A first-generation Chicano, Oscar is a rare double Bruin having attended the University of California, Los Angeles for both undergraduate and graduate studies. He holds a 1st-Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate which sparked his interest in the Japanese language. He won his first playwriting award in sixth-grade for “Gangs of Inglewood: a modern fairy tale,” a production he wrote and directed. His first theatrical role was Michael Banks in a diverse elementary school production of Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins. Oscar is an ACMT certified, former Apple Genius. He is a member of the International Documentary Association (IDA) and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP).
