San Simeon

Synopsis

The Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery is easily accessible, free and open to the public. Piedras Blancas is on Highway 1, seven miles north of San Simeon on the California Central Coast, home to 25,000 elephant seals each year, ranging from the baby elephant seal to the 5,000-pound adult male.

They migrate thousands of miles, twice a year, to come here:  for birthing, breeding, molting and resting.
