New Morning



Synopsis

This is the true story of Derek Dabkoski, a senior at New York University’s Tisch School in the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television. After returning home to San Francisco in the summer of 2006 in order to shoot his thesis film, “The Blue Boat”, Derek was brutally attacked. Waking
from a coma weeks later, he found himself partially paralyzed and unable to use his right side.

“New Morning” follows Derek from the point of his injury, through his rehabilitation and beyond. The film documents his struggle to complete his movie. It is a cautionary tale of tragedy, struggle, and ultimately one of hope.
