Synopsis
Vladimir Mayakovsky was a Russian poet and revolutionary, swept up by the ideals of Lenin and the futurist party, who later became disillusioned under the Soviet Regime and ended his brief and luminous career in suicide. This short documentary is an introduction to the life and times of Vladimir Mayakovsky and pays specific attention to Mayakovsky’s obsession with cleanliness, which is alluded to in several biographies and is the topic of a short story by Antonio Tabucci in the book “Dreams of Dreams,” which is a fictional re-imagining of the dream lives of famous artists. The title “A Cloud in Trousers” comes from a poem written by Mayakovsky.
