Short Film
Synopsis
My climb of Mount Whitney in the eastern Sierra mountains was in September, 1984.
Day 1 was a 3,640 foot climb, 6.5 miles and took a good part of the day.
Day 2 was 2,500 feet up (3.5 miles) then a descent of 6,145 feet covering 9 miles of trail. It also took the entire day.
Looking back now, this surprisingly easy climb is manageable, if you have the time, strength AND do not get altitude sickness.
